Jon Bernthal is Back as The Punisher as Cameras Roll for the MCU One Shot!

There’s no denying that comic book fandom everywhere rejoiced when it was announced that Jon Bernthal would tack up once again as infamous vigilante Frank castle/The Punisher. The actor, who has excelled at playing the role in season 2 of the Netflix Daredevil series as well as two seasons of his own The Punisher series, and most recently on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, has been spotted on the set of the one shot as cameras began rolling last week.
Check out some on set photos of Bernthal in character below!

Although plot details are under wraps, there are rumors that suggest that the special will deal with Frank Castle’s adventures after he escapes Wilson Fisk’s private prison which was shown in the stinger scene at the end of Born Again. There are also reports saying that a female actor has been cast in a crime boss roll which has fans saying that it could be the one and only Ma Gnucci who figured heavily in the “Welcome Back, Frank” storyline which was penned by Garth Ennis in 2000. There is a set photo suggesting this which you can check out below!

Bernthal won’t be one and done with the Punisher special by any means as he will report to the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day which is gearing up for production and features the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. How much of a presence he has in that film remains to be seen.
Jeremy Renner Talks Hawkeye Season 2

After financial compensation disputes between Disney and himself, it was clearly uncertain if Jeremy Renner would return to play ace archer Hawkeye in season 2 of the Disney+ MCU limited series. It’s obvious that it’s just plain awesome to have Renner around after he almost died in a fluke snowplow accident in 2023 so it’s great that we are even talking about Renner suiting up once again.
It was made quite public that Renner was unhappy with what Disney offered him to come back but it looks like that has all been put aside as the actor spoke to Empire recently and chatted about getting back into shape for the role.
“I’m always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character,” Renner said. “I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.“
Renner, when asked if he could still pull off the stunt work needed for Hawkeye after the accident, cleared the air and said he’s good to go. “Absolutely. No problem. That’s where I’m at. I’m more than 150 per cent of what I was prior to the incident.“
Even though nothing has been greenlit or etched in stone yet, Brad Winderbaum who is the head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel confirmed in an interview with EW earlier this year that he would love to take another shot at Hawkeye.
“Hawkeye is another one that feels like you can make a second season of that show because it’s Christmas, because it’s Clint and Kate,” Winderbaum said. “You can kind of revisit it whenever, and we’re looking for opportunities to do that. But as we develop things for the future, I think they’re going to be designed to be multiple seasons, have more of a pattern, and be able to be released annually.“
Brad Pitt is back as Cliff Booth in Director David Fincher’s Follow Up to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Even though a sequel to his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood wasn’t in the cards as he will only direct one more film, Quentin Tarantino gave his blessing for prolific filmmkaer David Mincher to take up the mantle and direct a Cliff Booth follow up which sees Brad Pitt returning.
Per outlets, the plot for the film will center on Booth retiring from stunt work and reinventing himself as a Hollywood fixer. The cast for this one is stacked as it consists of Carla Gugino, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. There is no word yet if Pitt’s Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, who played Rick Dalton in Tarantino’s film will be back but never say never.
Pitt was more than happy to coerce Tarantino into letting Fincher helm as Pitt won an Oscar for his performance and he and Fincher have a celebrated history together having collaborated on such past classics as Se7en, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
As of now, the film is being called The Adventures of Cliff Booth and principal photography has started on the movie as of July 28th and will roll until January of next year. The spin-off is already set up at Netflix.
