It’s hard to be a any kind of fan of the Avatar franchise from prolific filmmaker and grand auteur James Cameron but there is no denying that it is one of the grandest sci-fi epics to ever hit celluloid. On one hand, it takes years and in the case of the second film decades to get a new entry but on the other, one can argue that the wait is firmly worth it. It’s only been a few years since the second film hit so I guess that is a good thing seeing that it took Cameron thirteen years to deliver the junior installment back in 2022.
Today sees the release of the first of what will assuredly be several trailers for Cameron’s hat trick also known as Avatar: Fire and Ash and the trailer hit last Friday with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Cameron is old school loke Christopher Nolan in that he wants his trailer release to be an event and that is why those who didn’t go to see Marvel’s first family this weekend had to wait until today to see the promo. I am a fan of this type of marketing as it brings me back to the days before trailers dropping on social media.
Anyway, the new trailer looks and sounds terrific and if you do get a chance, watch it in IMAX as it is every bit as grand in scope and design with perfect visuals and heat thumping sound. But if you cannot wait then watch it in the tiny video player below!
Jake and Neytiri’s family grapples with grief after Neteyam’s death, encountering a new, aggressive Na’vi tribe, the Ash People, who are led by the fiery Varang, as the conflict on Pandora escalates and a new moral focus emerges.
Avatar: The Way of Water has gone on to make bank at the box office with more than $2 billion which sets the stage for the third Avatar film as well as Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. Both of those sequels are set to hit theaters on December 21, 2029, and December 19, 2031, respectively so once again you have a wait to see how this all unfolds. Avatar: Fire and Ash is poised and ready to hit cinemas and IMAX on December 19th of this year. Yep, more waiting.

The cast for Avatar: Fire and Ash includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, Britain Dalton, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald, David Thewlis, and Oona Chaplin.
