The Beekeeper! The Bricklayer! The Painter! And now we have….THE FLORIST! I’m not gonna lie, with all the assassin laced actioners about everyday working men with nine to five blue collar jobs, this one sounds the least cool. Although it does star Dennis Quaid and The Professional himself Jean Reno so that’s two things it has going for it. A brand-new trailer has emerged courtesy of Saban Films showcasing Quaid and his particular skill set to create a nice arrangement while mowing down enemy combatants at the same time. It’s time to go full auto and spritz those roses with Dennis Quad’s The Florist!!!!
The Florist follows Carl Rikker (Dennis Quaid), an introverted, quiet horticulturist who loves his day job. However, he holds a dark secret – at night, he moonlights as a ruthless assassin. His identity is threatened when he forms an unlikely friendship with a teenage girl.
Starring along with Quaid and Reno are Sky Katz (Raven’s Home), Anna Schafer (The Trials of Cate McCall), Leonidas Gulaptis (A Nice Girl Like You) and Dylan Flashner (The Card Counter). Babak Najafi (London Has Fallen) helms the assassin themed actioner with Eran Creevy (Welcome To The Punch) and Scott Windhauser (Mafia Wars) penning the screenplay.
TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: Seriously though, how many of these action films featuring a retired and inactive bad ass dusting of his or her skills to help protect an innocent youth from the things that go bump in the night? At this point, I think this could be its own subgenre and a running gag amongst action film buffs and bloggers. With that being said, I’m still all in because you have prolific Hollywood heavyweights like Dennis Quaid and Jean Reno doing what they do best. The trailer looks exactly like what fans could expect and want from an action film and Quaid is bringing his decades long gravitas and bravado with him while looking simply stellar blasting away at the baddies. The action looks brutal, visceral and bloody so why the hell not. I’m in the mood for a John Wick inspired bullet blasting ballet of exquisite death and destruction so buckle up. I’m also eager to see what chemistry there is with Quaid and Reno which should carry the film if there is enough of screentime shared together.
