The third film in the Extraction franchise starring Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba just doubled down on a serious supporting cast of action heavyweights. Extraction 3 is currently rolling in front of the cameras, and we now have official confirmation that not only Pierce Brosnon has joined the cast, but he’s joined by some serious firepower in The Furious and The Raid star Joe Taslim and Korean powerhouse Don Lee of The Roundup films!
Per Deadline: Extraction 3, the latest entry in Netflix‘s action franchise starring Chris Hemsworth, has rounded out its cast with five additions: two-time Golden Globe nominee Pierce Brosnan (MobLand), plus Don Lee (Train to Busan), Joe Taslim (The Furious), Chi Lewis-Parry (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple) and Siena Agudong (Amazon’s upcoming Carrie series).
Adding fisticuff fueled talent like Lee and Taslim enforces the perspective that director Sam Hargrave, who is returning once again, is going to lay down some serious and brutal action design. Along with the bullets, the beatdowns are about to be elevated to a whole new powder keg level. With Brosnan also joining the cast, he brings decades of legit Hollywood leading man swagger and gravitas, and his scenes will bring the production to a whole new level.
Don Lee is also starring in his own spin-off film titled Extraction: Tygo so his inclusion into the third tentpole film means that they are bridging the gap with the shared universe. In his solo outing, Lee stars as a former child soldier turned mercenary and the film has already been shot and is in post-production.
The synopsis for Extraction 3 is currently classified as is the roles of the new additions but expect Lee to be an ally while Taslim will most likely weigh in as a formidable advisory. Just my thoughts but do not quote me on. Extraction 3 is filming in Australia as of this writing, with Golshifteh Farahani also returning from the previous two films.
Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Ari Costa will produce for AGBO, alongside Chris Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson for Wild State, along with Sam Hargrave, Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin. Steven V. Scavelli set as executive producer.
The Extraction story is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Anthony & Joe Russo. The series follows Aussie black market mercenary Tyler Rake who takes on black ops missions spanning the entire globe.
