Ho. Ly. Shit! After a few years of succumbing to the powers that be in Hollywood and delivering some mighty bombastic entries in Legendary’s Monsterverse, filmmaker Adam Wingard is ready to return to the world that officially put him on the map. From the universe of his standout genre mashing thriller The Guest, comes a new installment in this insane and bombastic universe where death, destruction and blood splattering mayhem are on full display.
The new film is called Onslaught and while it shares the same world of the aforementioned The Guest, Wingard is looking to go bigger or go home as this film looks to be another savage mashing of action, horror and sci-fi with super soldiers on a ferocious gauntlet of the ultimate blood-soaked carnage. Check out the newest trailer below and get ready to have your eyes ripped out with this one upon viewing!
When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers break loose in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to protect her young daughter.

TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: Fans of Wingard’s earlier efforts before he segueing into Godzilla taking on Kong know that he is one of the premiere indie style filmmakers out there and is a legit threat in genre filmmaking mashing up multipole genres into one balls out film. Onslaught looks like a pseudo sequel to The Guest with ramped up characters, violence, action and horrific chaos. Adria Arjona, who is becoming a huge star now, looks completely stripped down here and bad ass as a mother and former spec ops soldier who’s only intent is to go into momma bear mode to save her daughter.
The footage we have seen looks mind-blowing, visceral, explosive and ferocious with the super soldier trope dialed up to 100. I have always been a fan of The Guest and was devastated when we didn’t get a proper sequel to it but with this one taking place in the same universe, maybe one day Wingard will get to revisit that other aspect of his insane world. I’m looking forward to seeing throat ripping gore on a grand scale and monstruous genetically enhanced warriors slicing through a town that won’t know what hit them. This is Universal Soldier and Terminator merged with a mutilating slasher flick that looks to reinvent how we view any of these genres. Can I just say that including the GOAT that is Michael Biehn is a genre executed chef’s kiss! I’m. All. In!
