They have been adapted for the screen a total of three times so far (yes, I count Roger Corman’s infamous version) but now the MCU is roaring in hot with Phase Six as the new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been unveiled with all new footage and the threat of Galactus looming. Watch the newest iteration of Marvel’s first family below!
The official synopsis reads: Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.

The official cast, as we already know, includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic; Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, and Julia Garner as the Shalla-Bal version of the Silver Surfer. Additional cast members include Ralph Ineson as Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds. Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps officially launches Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Matt Shakman, who is no stranger to the MCU having done WandaVision, helms the pic from a script penned by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer.
I’m sure there are strong opinions out there from die hard and pessimistic fans, but I love the aesthetic of the film, and the cast all look great. My only fear lies with The Silver Surfer as I feel 20th Century Fox’s 2007 version looks a lot better. Hopefully she looks more hi-tech in terms of the CGI when the film hits the big screen so we shall see. Fortunately, I think The Thing looks Jack Kirby spot on so he’s always been my favorite, so I’m pleased as of now.
