It’s taken a minute, but cameras are finally rolling on the highly anticipated third entry for Netflix’s blockbuster action franchise as Extraction 3 is going tactical as we speak. The news was shared via social media by the film’s stars Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba along with franchise helmer Sam Hargrave. The green light has taken a while but it’s finally happening so scroll below for the first look!

Hemsworth rolled out the pics on his official X page with the simple statement of “E3 Here we go!”
Major plot details are still classified for Tyler Rake’s latest black ops adventure, but we do know that the third film will pick up after the cliffhanger of the second film. In the finale, Rake and his ally Nik Khan (Golshifteh Farahani) successfully extract Ketevan and her children but ultimately face the repercussions of the mission. While ending up in prison, the elite operatives are given a new mission and a shot at redemption courtesy of the mysterious Alcott played by Elba.
Needless to say, the Extraction films are some of the elite that has hit the genre in years, and Hargrave has channeled a solid career in stunt work to craft an action franchise that utilizes intense and creative action design to punctuate hard hitting dramatic storytelling. Hemsworth might be best known for playing the god of thunder in the MCU, but this franchise and his character of Tyler Rake is a close second and is without a doubt, a legit throwback action hero as seen in the glory days of the 80’s and 90’s. The only nitpick I have for the Extraction films is that they are streaming movies while they need to play on the biggest screens available. Both the first and the second installments were bullet blasting, blood spraying tactical carnage at its finest and these set pieces need big screens and big sounds.
Tyler Rake is back. Chris Hemsworth returns as Rake in Extraction 3, the next installment in the Extraction universe, AGBO and Netflix’s global action franchise.
Sam Hargrave returns to direct from a script by David Weil, with Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani also reprising their roles. Production begins this summer.
Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Ari Costa will produce for AGBO, alongside Chris Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson for Wild State, along with Sam Hargrave, Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin. Steven V. Scavelli set as executive producer.
The Extraction story is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Anthony & Joe Russo.
Lock ‘N’ Load and get ready for more brutal black ops action as Tyler Rake is back and the bodies are about to hit the ground!
While we wait for more intel, images and footage to drop, check out the full throttle action set pieces from the second entry below!
