Who remembers the time when cancel culture was trying to take out Frank Castle AKA the Punisher? I sure as hell do but today guess who’s still standing and it ain’t cancel culture. Is that even a thing nowadays? I digress though. It’s actually a great time to be a fan of Marvel Comics gun toting vigilante and with a brand-new slew of titles hitting comic bookshelves, Frank is set to go up against some of Marvel’s elite in a new limited series of one-shot battles that is set to ooze epic vibes on every page!
The new limited series is titled The Punisher: Showdowns and Frank has his hands full as he takes on the elite of the Marvel Universe including Black Widow, Wolverine and even The Winter Soldier!
Writer Tom Waltz (Marvel Zombies: War Zone) and artist Greg Land (All-Out Avengers) are teaming up for a series of oversized one-shots where Frank Castle faces some of Marvel’s most dangerous heroes. The first issue, Punisher Showdowns: Black Widow #1, hits stores in October 2026, followed by Wolverine in November and Winter Soldier in December.
The concept is to explore “untold conflicts” between Frank and these iconic characters, blending gritty street-level action with larger-than-life Marvel battles. The Black Widow issue kicks off a mission where Castle and Natasha cross paths in a hostile way, setting up a chain of escalating confrontations.
Color me all kinds of elated as this series along with the ongoing Punisher series is certainly filling the need for more Frank. there is also a new limited series involving The Punisher called marvel Zombies: War Zone which pits castle against a legion of the undead. Having Castle take on some of the most prolific characters in the Marvel universe is a stellar idea and here’s hoping that this latest clash between Punisher and Wolverine surpasses their previous battles. I’m also excited to see Frank take on YThe Winter Soldier as that simply sounds like a tactical action wet dream featuring two of Marvel’s most skilled warriors in do or die battle.
“Landing the Punisher Showdowns gig right on the heels of my work on Marvel Zombies: War Zone is far from a punishment, let me tell you!” said Waltz while speaking on the upcoming series.
“I get to showcase untold Punisher missions, culling from some of my favorite Marvel lore, and featuring three other fascinating superheroes with dark histories: Black Widow, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier,” he added, teasing the one-shot adventures.
The Punisher One Shot Limited Series will see its intro with Punisher Showdowns: Black Widow #1 when it hits comic stores in October 2026. The issues including Wolverine and the Winter Soldier will go on sale in November and December and all are up for pre-order now!
