Lionsgate has unveiled new release dates (subject to change at a moment’s notice of course) for a host of some of their action titles. From Mark Wahlberg going all bad in Mel Gibson’s Flight Risk to Gerard Butler’s long-awaited Den of Thieves sequel, scroll below to learn when you can plant your seat in a movie theater seat!
FLIGHT RISK- October 18th

Mel Gibson is a no holds barred actor and filmmaker when it comes to action and now, he has Mark Wahlberg as his newest adrenaline laced muse in the new actioner Flight Risk. A new trailer was also unveiled yesterday during the Lionsgate panel and according to JoBlo, Flight Risk looks” commercial. Michelle Dockery is a US Marshal flying a witness (Topher Grace) to testify against the mob, but the pilot of the plane is a psychopathic hit man played by Mark Wahlberg playing WAY against type. He even shaved his head to look like he has a bald pate. Looks like a really tight kickass thriller, and Gibson REALLY makes Walhberg look crazy in this. Scored by a cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer.’“
Wahlberg looking crazy with a shaved head and going full on psycho villain? Yes please. With Gibson helming this one, expect a very hard-edged thriller with some unflinching set pieces to fill the running time. Wahlberg hasn’t really played the antagonist since 1996’s Fear so I’m all in with this one!
THE KILLER’S GAME- September 13th

Another forthcoming assault on action cinema stars the one and only Dave Bautista and is directed by veteran action director and stunt pro J.J. “Loco” Perry (Day Shift). The film in question is the action-comedy The Killer’s Game and it features Bautista as Joe Flood, “a veteran assassin (Bautista), who is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and authorizes a hit on himself to avoid the pain that is destined to follow. But soon after, he finds out that he was misdiagnosed— and must fend off an army of former colleagues trying to kill him.“
The MCU’s Pom Klementieff stars as the woman who executes the contact to take out Bautista as he is the one who killed her father. To make sure the job gets done, she rallies all the top tier assassins of Europe to eliminate Flood with extreme prejudice.
A trailer was shown at CinemaCon and word is that this is going to be a hyper-violent R-rated actioner which just may be Bautista’s John Wick. The assassins sent in to try and take Bautista’s character out is a squadron of action film icons including Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror, and Daniel Bernhardt so adrenaline junkies of cinema like me will have much cause for celebration when this one hits. Throw in a stellar supporting cast that includes Terry Crews, Sofia Boutella, and Ben Kingsley and this one has blood red gold written all over it. Source: JoBlo
DEN OF THIEVES: PANTERA- January 10th, 2025

Gerard Butler’s maverick cop Big Nick is back in the long-awaited sequel to his hit cop thriller Den of Thieves. Titled Den of Thieves: Pantera, Butler is globetrotting this time around and dodging bullets going up against old and new adversaries in Europe. The movie has been gestating for a few years ever since it was announced and it finally appears that the stars are aligning for the follow up to get into gear.
In the sequel, Big Nick is back on the hunt on the mean-streets of Europe closing in on Donnie who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange. The original 2018 movie, also directed and written by Gudegast, and released by STX, made a near $45M stateside and over $80M WW.
I always felt like the first film was like the bad seed of Heat and even though the finale never quite topped the latter, it came damn close. Heat will always be a master class in the genre of cops and robbers, but Den made you feel dirty but in a good way.
O’Shea Jackson Jr. is also set to return and Christian Gudegast wrote and is helming the flick.
Lock N Load right here for more to hit!
