It’s been a few minutes since we’ve seen any high/octane output from the country of Vietnam but that’s all fixed today with the new trailer and key art for the upcoming actioner 578 Magnum. To go along with the awesome sounding name, we’ve got one embattled father running a gauntlet of assassins and gangsters in order to make things right and protect his daughter.
Let the adrenaline fueled visuals do the talking for this one so check out the trailer below courtesy of Screen Anarchy.
Official Synopsis: A container truck driver, Hùng, lives an idyllic life with his little daughter, An. The father and the daughter become the closest companions in every journey with their orange container truck. Life goes on like that until An has to leave her father to go to school. One day, Hùng is informed that An is suffering from a severe depression. Relying on his old skills in the past and finding out the truth, Hùng becomes enraged and pained to know that his little girl was kidnapped and sexually abused by a male stranger. Starting his lone and intense journey looking for and chasing after the unknown abuser, Hùng realizes that to hunt down that psychopath he has to counter the massive underground forces behind them.

Helmed by Luong Dinh Dung, who also wrote and produced, the film stars Alexandre Nguyễn. This was quite the international production as the lead is French, and the stunt and fight coordinator is out of Korea. Oh Sea Young is best known for serving up action in such films as Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance as well as the MCU blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron.
American Morgan Schmidt served as the director of photography. His skills in Vietnamese cinema is unquestioned having worked on the acclaimed female centric revenge pic Furie.
What this all adds up to is that this film is going to probably deliver some blood soaked satisfaction for action cinema disciples. The above trailer can certainly attest to that as it definitely wets the collective appetite for all things chaotic.
578 Magnum is ready to hit Vietnamese cinemas on March 26th. I’m sure that some international distributor like Well Go USA will swoop in on this one so stay tuned for more 411 on this one.
