INDY 5 Finally Wraps Production!

By: John M Jerva

After years of being in developmental hell and suffering numerous delays during production which included star Harrison Ford getting injured on set, it appears that filming has officially wrapped on the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise.

Producer Frank Marshall made the announcement via Twitter and posted an image of a production crew cap which simply states “Indy” on it.

The film was originally announced by Disney way back in 2016 with a 2019 release year but setbacks plagued the production including Steven Spielberg turning over directing duties to Logan’s James Mangold. Spielberg did stay on as a producer of the film however. When Mangold came aboard, a creative tone was changed for the movie with Jez and John-Henry Butterworth being brought on to rewrite the script.

The plot is top secret and the official title has yet to be announced but it will follow the events of 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, and Oliver Richters.

We do have a wait though as Indiana Jones 5 isn’t set to hit theaters until June 30, 2023.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come on the highly anticipated Indy 5 as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
