Next January will see action icon Jason Statham delivering another round of elite ass kicking as the Timo Tjahjanto helmed The Beekeeper 2 will hit theaters. Yesterday at the Amazon MGM panel at CinemaCon, the star introduced new footage via a taped intro and from what we have heard, it did not disappoint.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, “the star appeared in a pre-recorded bit, pouring honey into his tea as he introduced exclusive clips from the new movie.”
The article went on to say, “the footage showed Statham’s character, former government assassin Adam Clay, as he learns that the Beekeepers, an elite clandestine human intelligence organization tasked with protecting the U.S. and operating above governmental jurisdiction, have gone rogue and will kill anyone in their way. The group has kidnapped the president, as Jeremy Irons’ character, Wallace Westwyld, a former CIA Director, tells Clay that he’s the only one who “can stop all this madness.” And so Clay jumps into action, wielding plenty of machine guns, a flamethrower and at one point, even harnesses bees as a weapon as he sets out to make things right.“
The Beekeeper 2 will be unleashed in theaters on January 14th, 2027, so this marks the third Jason Statham film we will have received within one calendar year after Shelter hit earlier this year and his Mutiny is set to launch in August. Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave are returning cast members while new additions for the sequel include Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland.
Screenrant delivered a full trailer breakdown of what was shown at yesterday’s panel and all I can say is that this sequel is looking to knock the original on its collective ass. Check out the full details of what was shown below!
New footage for The Beekeeper 2 was shown during CinemaCon, giving a clearer idea of where the sequel is heading. The clip opens quietly with a car moving through a forest before exploding into action at a mansion. Armed guards open fire, but things quickly turn when Adam Clay steps in and takes control of the situation.
The sequence reveals that Jeremy Irons’ Wallace Westwyld warns Clay that the Beekeepers have gone rogue. Clay is also searching for a missing friend, though Wallace claims he knows nothing.
The tension builds with multiple street fights, where Clay uses his enemies’ own weapons against them. At one point, he even mentions using bee stings to slow bleeding from his wounds (via Screenrant).
Things escalate further when the story hints at a larger conspiracy. Wallace reveals that the president has been kidnapped, raising the stakes significantly. The footage shows Clay battling soldiers, including one armed with a flamethrower. In another moment, he uses a turret-equipped vehicle to wipe out enemies on an airstrip.
One of the most talked-about scenes involves Clay releasing a swarm of bees into a locked room, letting them attack his enemies. It fits the film’s unusual mix of grounded action and over-the-top ideas tied to the Beekeeper program. The sequel appears to explore this secret organization more deeply than the original movie.
Can I just say that it is a chef’s kiss that Statham’s Adam Clay actually uses bees to take down his enemies in this one? I mean seriously, I think that this was the only missing ingredient to the first film and now the franchise has come full circle with this news. Bravo Timo, bravo.
The action set pieces sound brutally epic and immense with Statham looking to showcase once again that he is an elite action star. Pairing him with a director like Timo who is best known for delivering bloody, visceral and unforgiving action in films like The Night Comes for Us is a stroke of genius and fans will certainly have something to sink their teeth into with this one. I’m safe in saying when I speak for everyone that The Beekeeper 2 cannot come fast enough.
