It’s clear that Amazon MGM brought the firepower to their panel at CinemaCon yesterday with the company unveiling new footage for anticipated action films like Highlander and The Beekeeper 2. Fans of fantasy and Masters of the Universe were certainly not left out as the highly anticipated live action film of the blockbuster Ip made waves at the panel as well. Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes and director Travis Knight were all in attendance to personally hype up the big budget spectacle and judging from first reactions to those on hand, they did not disappoint.
Per The Hollywood Reporter: star Nicholas Galitzine declared, “This is the sword of power – it’s ancient, mystical, very difficult to get through security. I was told not to swing it, legally.”
Mendes then added, “so many muscles – more muscles than is necessary.” She added, “Strip all that away, and it’s about a kid that doesn’t feel that he’s enough.”
Director Travis Knight then declared, “Masters of the Universe is something that I seriously loved as a kid.”
With all that said, footage was shown to the crowd and ewe have a complete breakdown below courtesy of THR!
The clip opens with Galitzine being teasingly called “Highlander” multiple times. Suddenly, he is confronted by Beast Man, leading Galitzine to ask, “What is going on?“
Thankfully, Teela emerges out of nowhere to save the day. “Adam, is it really you? You don’t recognize me?” she asks. “Ready to go home?”

Deadline Hollywood added: “In the footage revealed, we see Nicholas Galitzine as Adam struggling to fight before Camila Mendes’ Teela finds him. They journey back to Eternia where we see Galitzine’s transformation to He-Man. We’re getting a closer look at Jared Leto’s Skeltor and Alison Brie’s Evil-Lyn and Idris Elba’s Man-At-Arms.”
“You can pretend to be the hero. But without the sword who are you?” Jared Leto’s Skeltor says to He-Man in the footage.

Brandon Davis on X also described some of the footage and it sounds like a rollercoaster goodtime blending what made the product popular back in the 80’s while carving out a new future for it at the same time. Check it out below!
Adam transforms into He-Man after calling on the Power of Grayskull. This kicks off a wild showdown, complete with swordplay and monster combat. Skeletor orders his forces to grab He-Man’s sword while the latter dares them to even try. Eventually, a big enemy enters the picture and knocks him down twice, once with an axe and later with a horn headbutt. However, the hero gets back up both times to resume the fight.
I feel that Masters of the Universe is either going to hit it big or fail epically. From what we all have seen in the teaser and trailer, the action looks pumping, the visuals look grand, the care for nostalgia looks intact and the cast and crew look like they were all in on making this. There won’t be any in-between but here is hoping that old school fans and new ones support the film and that it is something that is worthy of entertaining the masses. Travis Knight has a great track record and seems to really love the property so that bodes well for the film. We shall see…
