With official word finally coming that his long-awaited Highlander reboot starring Henry Cavill will finally roll before cameras this coming January, Chad Stahelski has already set his eyes on his next non-John Wick related project for Lionsgate as he will produce and direct via his 87Eleven Entertainment production banner an English language remake of the soon to be hit Hindi actioner Kill. The original film is set to be released domestically here in the U.S. this July 4th and word of mouth has it that this is one of the best and most violent action films to come out of any country in quite some time.

If anyone is going to grab up Kill to remake it for western audiences, you can bet that you would want it to be Stahelski and his action design team over at 87Eleven. Stahelski has proven time and time again with his John Wick franchise that he knows a thing or two about crafting master class style action set pieces along with hard hitting and immersive plots.

Lionsgate raised eyebrows last year when they acquired the original Hindi language version as no Hollywood studio had acquired a Hindi project in the past. It makes sense and bodes well for action faithful that they be the ones to remake it along with Stahelski who signed an exclusive deal with Lionsgate last year to develop action films.
Stahelski had nothing but praise and accolades for Kill saying, “Kill is one of the most vivid, wild, and creative action movies I’ve seen recently. Nikhil delivers relentless action sequences that need to be seen by as wide an audience as possible. It’s exciting to be developing an English-language version—we have big shoes to fill and I’m looking forward to working with Nikhil, Karan, Apoorva, Guneet, and Achin to achieve that.”
Normally, most fans would raise their nooses to a remake of what should be a classic action film upon release but when that filmmaker is Stahelski, well then, you know it will probably do justice to the original. maybe even surpass it if that’s possible.
The Hindi language Kill was penned and directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. The film stars Lakshya as Amrit in what is sure to be a breakout action film performance along with Tanya Maniktala as Tulika, Raghav Juyal as Fani, Ashish Vidyarthi as Beni, Harsh Chhaya as Baldev Singh Thakur, Abhishek Chauhan as Viresh, and Parth Tiwari as Siddhi. Kill was produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain.
The official synopsis for Kill reads, “When army commando Amrit finds out his true love Tulika is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage,” reads the synopsis. “But when a gang of knife-wielding thieves led by the ruthless Fani begin to terrorize innocent passengers on his train, Amrit takes them on himself in a death-defying kill-spree to save those around him — turning what should have been a typical commute into an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride.”
All footage released for the movie is a crazy and hyper-kinetic blend of gore, CQB action and knife fights that are unrivaled. It is being boasted as the most violent Hindi actioner ever and it might just be the most violent movie ever in any language. I’m just hoping that it plays near me.
