This past October at NYCC, I was able to attend the Free Guy panel with star Ryan Reynolds in attendance and was able to be the first to see first footage of the groundbreaking new film which stars Reynolds as a NPC or non player character in a game where he doesn’t really matter. All that changes when he realizes who he really is and works to fight so the game doesn’t go off-line. The footage was great and seeing Reynolds live was a real treat to say the least.
Now 20th Century Fox has dropped the first official trailer for the film which you can peek at below!

Free Guy is an action-comedy about a bank teller who discovers he is a background character in an open world video game called Free City that will soon go offline.
Helmed by Shawn Levy, Reynolds stars along with Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Thor: Ragnarok Director Taika Waititi.

In today’s climate where there are numerous complaints about there being no creativity in films, here’s one that is destined to stand out as a truly inventive film and the humor and action looks spectacular and Reynolds always delivers. It was a real honor to be one of the first to see footage this past October and the panel was a home run with those in attendance.

Free Guy hits theaters next summer on July 3rd!
