Director Timo Tjahjanto Announces Production Start on Jason Statham’s THE BEEKEEPER 2!
Although many considered Jason Statham’s last outing A Working Man which saw him reunite with his The Beekeeper director David Ayer was lacking, all sights are now locked on the follow up to the latter which sees The Night Comes for Us helmer Timo Tjahjanto steeping in. Timo shared the news on social media with a photo of the production sign and simply stated, “Off we go.”
In an interview with ScreenRant back in August in support of his Nobody 2, Timo Tjahjanto stated that he chose to take over The Beekeeper 2 from Ayer because Statham’s character of Adam Clay reminded him of Frank Castle.
“I’m definitely drawn to the Beekeeper series just because when I watched it, I always felt that, ‘Wow, this is essentially Statham playing one of my favorite characters in the Marvel universe, which is The Punisher,’” Tjahjanto. “If I can’t make The Punisher film, if the Gods of film aren’t allowing me to do a Punisher film yet, then I’ll turn Adam Clay into my own version of The Punisher.”
Tjahjanto went on to say that he feels that Jason Statham’s acting is keen to the vigilante and that it was a no-brainer to tackle the sequel to do it justice.
“I think Statham has that quality in him. He has that very stoic Frank Castle-esque quality to him. And I love that Adam Clay is definitely a guy who is quite colorful in his choice of violence. He gets really, really creative with his violence.”
Tjahjanto closed out the interview by teasing what fans can expect from the villains that Clay will be taking on this time around. “Another thing that draws me is definitely the escalation of just how big the villains are in this film. So, you can wait for that.”

WWE Star Drew McIntyre Joins HIGHLANDER with Production Delayed Due to Henry Cavill’s Injury
I didn’t get the chance to chat about the delay in production of Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot when it saw its star Henry Cavill injured pushing production back to early 2026 but we have some casting news to update.
Deadline is reporting that WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre has officially joined the cast and will play the brother to Cavill’s character of MacLeod in the new film. Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists is now in charge, and one has to wonder if this production isn’t jinxed. McIntyre joins an already stacked cast that includes Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang, and Dave Bautista who will take on the role of The Kurgan.
Production was set to get underway soon, but Cavill injured his leg while training for the film and is recovering nicely but the filming is now set for early next year. McIntyre had previously worked with Dave Bautista and the 87Eleven team when he co-starred in The Killer’s Game.
