Zack Snyder, best known for his stylistic slo-mo visually striking bombastic fantasy films, is toning it down at a rapid-fire rate for his latest thriller. The filmmaker is going the indie aesthetic route for his latest titled The Last Photograph and it shoots from the hip with a dark, brutal and unflinching vibe. You know you’re in for a rough time when the trailer has a warning at the beginning for the violent imagery on display. Scroll below and immerse yourself in Snyder’s unapologetic action-thriller that takes no prisoners and grabs your attention!
An ex-DEA operative searches the South American mountains for his missing niece and nephew after their parents are murdered. With the help of a war photographer who witnessed the killers, he confronts his past as their journey blurs the line between reality and the surreal.
Stuart Martin and Fra Fee, who both starred in Snyder’s Rebel Moon saga, are front and center as the former DEA agent and war photographer respectively. Along with helming the pic, Snyder also serves as his own director of photography with Deborah Snyder onboard per usual as the film’s producer. Prolific composer and longtime Snyder collaborator Hans Zimmer offers his brilliance for the score.
TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: The teaser pulls no punches and actually aims low for the striking blow with an opening featuring a dead dog which will surely have people talking. From there, we know that this isn’t your average action-thriller nor Snyder joint as the film has a surreal, noirish, disturbing and unflinching tone. It almost looks like Apocalypse Now in its execution and it will definitely be one that doesn’t stay on the beat and path and will definitely bang to a different drum. Just how far out it goes remains to be seen but there’s no denying that this teaser serves up what it’s supposed to do and that’s get people talking about the movie. How will the tactical mayhem play out is a surefire question, but this one looks more artistic then straight and narrow. It, without a doubt, grabbed me from the very first second and I’m intrigued at just how black this movie will get before the end credits roll.
There is no word yet on how and when the movie will be released so stay tuned and keep it locked ‘n’ loaded right here for future updates!
