Chris Pratt has said goodbye to the Jurassic World, but his MCU comrade Scarlett Johansson is taking up the reigns as the Hollywood megastar is now front and center in a reboot of the iconic, blockbuster franchise. Jurassic World: Rebirth is exactly that. A fresh start for the series of films that started all the way back with Steven Spielberg’s epic Jurassic Park. Will fans and mainstream audiences alike gravitate towards Johansson and this new iteration? We will have to wait until July to find out, but the first trailer is now online for your viewing pleasure!
Jurassic World Rebirth sees an intrepid team racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air. Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

Johansson certainly looks capable and with her character of Zora Bennett being “a skilled covert operations expert,” it looks like she’s bringing a little of that Balck Widow magic with her. Bennett is “contracted to lead a team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”
Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Mahershala Ali (Green Book), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer) also star in the film along with Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Ed Skrein (Deadpool), and Béchir Sylvain (Diarra from Detroit) rounding out the new additions. Unfortunately, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and OG members Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern who appeared in the last one are no longer involved.
Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) directs from a script by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.
