We are a week away until we find out if the newest version of The Crow will be sorry mentioning in the same breath as the iconic film starring the late, great Brandon Lee. After all, this film has had one massive uphill battle to get made and even then, fans have looked to dismiss it even before seeing the damn movie but that’s what happens when fandom gets involved. Personally, I’ve liked what I saw from director Rupert Sanders film which features Bill Skarsgard as the new symbol of revenge.
Lionsgate has dropped another new blood drenched clip which showcases one of the movie’s action sequences and it’s an opera house bloodbath as Eric (Skarsgard) executes his kill mission complete with running a gauntlet of crooks using a katana sword. The clip also comes with some pretty dope IMAX key art which may be my favorite so far so scroll below to view both as we prepare for the film’s release next week on August 23rd!
Official Synopsis: Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of THE CROW in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr.
Soulmates Eric (Skarsgård) and Shelly (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

The clip is a convincing show of strength that the action will be unflinching and brutal and I may just like it a little more than what was offered from Lee’s pic. We shall see if the rest of the film lives up to the footage shown this far.
Skarsgard stars along with FKA twigs, and Danny Huston with Edward R. Pressman, Molly Hassell, Victor Hadida, John Jencks, and Samuel Hadida serving as producers. The script was penned by Zach Baylin and William Schneider.
Sanders has committed to make sure that fans know that this Crow isn’t a remake of Lee’s film and is its own beast. Unfortunately, I feel that there are those that don’t be able to separate the two movies since Lee’s film is so iconic.
At any rate, we will know next weekend when The Crow hits theaters on Friday, August 23rd!
