Remember that time when Sony released that completely bad ass and awesome red band trailer for KRAVEN the Hunter with Aaron Taylor-Johnson?! You know the one. It’s where he kicks all kinds of ass with blood and body parts flying everywhere and we all got excited until Sony delayed the movie like 1000 times. Yeah, I knew you knew the one.
Well Sony says that it’s finally coming out on December 13th (3 days after my birthday no less) and to celebrate, they have graced comic book fandom with not one but two posters and a brand new trailer of Aaron Taylor-Johnson crushing more unfortunate souls. Let’s watch!
Official Synopsis: Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.

J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year, Triple Frontier) helms the film from a script penned by Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight, Uncharted). A top notch supporting cast including Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, Fred Hechinger, and Levi Miller also star alongside Taylor-Johnson.
The latest trailer demonstrates that he’s the classic Spider-Man villain for a new generation as well as the old. The trailer shows off the movie’s bloodlust as Kraven runs a gauntlet of adversaries and annihilates them with some over the top extreme prejudice and violence. Think Rambo crossed with Tarzan on steroids and you get the concept. I’m sold for now so I’m eagerly awaiting this one. After the failure that was Morbius, I’m cautiously optimistic after viewing.
Even with all the delays and the crushing blow of Sony delivering two disastrous comic book adaptations in Morbius and Madame Web (I still have t seen the latter), I’m still excited for KRAVEN and it looks like a deliriously, bloody, dismembering good time with epic set pieces and brutal, bone jarring action design. This new trailer further cements my awaiting expectations and no negativity will deter me so don’t even try to crush my enthusiasm social media.
Hopefully December 13th sticks and we will have yet another savage, R rated comic book flick to compliment Deadpool & Wolverine.
One can only hope.
