Today was a day for fandom everywhere as we not only celebrated free comic book day at your local comic shop, but it also happened to fall on Star Wars Day or as it’s affectionately called May the 4th be With You Day. Disney celebrated the annual holiday by dropping the 2nd official trailer for their newest limited series Star Wars: The Acolytes which seems to blend the epic sci-fi saga with a little tinge of 70’s Kung Fu flair. Serious fans know that George Lucas took inspiration from Samurai film epics when he created his iconic franchise and every lightsaber battle, the good ones at least, always radiated something from the Shaw Brothers. It also helps that Carrie Anne-Moss stars in it and it looks like she literally stepped out of a Matrix movie with the action we see her do. Check out the newest footage of the latest Star Wars series, along with new and franchise worthy key art below!
“An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…”

We do know that The Acolyte is said to take its timeline cue several generations before the events of the prequel films and the main plot revolves around a mysterious Jedi master (Squid Game’s Lee Jung-Jae) as he crosses paths with a fierce and skilled warrior (Amandla Stenberg). The warrior just so happens to harness dark and deadly secrets about the all-powerful The Force and the Jedi Masters who dedicate their lives to protecting it.
This latest trailer is action heavy featuring dazzling lightsaber action and expert action design with Jung-Jae throwing down against what will probably be the next fan favorite outside of Ray Parks’ Darth Maul. It’s no coincidence that this new antagonist is wielding a savage new red lightsaber and is masked in a helmet that is completely and undeniably bad ass.

I just learned that fans were not that impressed with the first trailer but I sure the hell was and you’re talking to a man that was in a theater seat when Star Wars: A New Hope opened up in 1977. Star Wars has taken its fair number of bumps and bruises especially when Disney took over so hopefully the ship will be steered in the right direction.
Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen, who was awesome in Logan, Charlie Barnett (You), Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones), Joonas Suotamon (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) join Moss, Lee and Stenberg.
