You could almost hear a disturbance in the fanboy universe this morning as soon as DC and James Gunn presented fans with the first official look at David Corenswet as Superman. The image highlights Corenswet in full man of Steel garb and he’s doing something we have never seen the last son of Krypton do before. He’s putting his boots on one leg at a time! The image of Corenswet also came with the tagline of “get ready” and the official launch date for Superman to hit theaters on July 11th, 2025. Scroll below to see the new pic!

As you can see from the new still, Corenswet’s Superman looks battle worn and weary and you can see chaos outside of his window with a full view of Metropolis. Also starring in Gunn’s rebranding of the Man of Steel are Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as The Green Lantern, Nicolas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Wendell Pierce who was last but not least cast as Perry White.
The new uniform definitely pays homage to the iconic Max Fleischer cartoons from the 40s and the “S” certainly invokes Kingdom Come Superman as well. It will be a great day when we finally see footage of this newer version and see if Corenswet is a viable successor to Henry Cavill’s take on the legendary superhero. We all know that Cavill was brought back to play Kal-El at the end of Black Adam only to be fired again when James Gunn and Peter Safran took control of DC Films over at the WB. The duo has put into play a host of DC projects for the future, but Superman will undoubtedly be a make it or break it film for this new regime. Gunn does lend some hopefulness as he knocked it out of the park with the Guardians of the Galaxy films over at Marvel as well as the Suicide Squad pic which eventually led to him taking over at DC Films.
Needless to say, fandom is very vocal today and it is a s entertaining as always. Stay tuned!
