Frank Grillo is set to battle Lycanthropes this December in the action/horror flick Werewolves but we have an equally savage indie appetizer for you genre fans hitting this October as Quiver Distribution has acquired the Louis Mandylor helmed WWII horror/thriller Operation Blood Hunt which definitely is in the running for best action title for a movie this year.
Mandylor has been rocking it behind the camera as of late delivering the solid WWII battle pic 3 Days in Malay as well as the Scott Adkins led Death March due out next year so I’m hyped to see what the action star turned filmmaker has up his sleeves for this film which stars former UFC champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Jonathon Rhys Meyers along with Mandylor.
The film was penned by filmmaker Brandon Slagle who is a marquee name in horror, sci-fi and action so there’s some serious talent in front of and behind the camera. I’m a sucker for movies that combine genres and Operation Blood Hunt looks like an adrenaline rush blending of Dog Soldiers and D-Day.
Massive werewolf carnage is sure to ensue so scroll below for the official press release complete with a barbarically violent trailer, key art and images below!!!
Quiver Distribution announced today that it has acquired North American rights to Operation Blood Hunt, the new World Warr II-era action thriller meets horror film from actor-director Louis Mandylor (3 Days in Malay, Blindsided) and writer Brandon Slagle (Arena Wars, Breakout). The film is produced by Daemon Hillin of Hillin Entertainment (Apache Junction, Death of Me) and executive produced by Landon B. Gorman of BGG Capital. This is the fourth project on which Hillin and BGG have partnered. The trailer and artwork for the feature have just dropped ahead of Quiver’s release of the film on Friday, October 4.

The film stars Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors, Quiver’s The Survivalist), mixed martial artist and former professional wrestler Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (Boss Level), Louis Mandylor (My Big Fat Greek Wedding series of films), and Sonia Couling (The War of Flowers).
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Operation Blood Hunt follows prolific expert of the occult and whiskey, Reverend Conte (Jackson), and a ragtag group of military rejects as they venture to a remote island in the South Pacific to investigate the unexplained disappearance of several United States Marine Corps battalions stationed there in 1944. While initial intelligence suggests the culprit to be that of the Japanese Imperial Army, the group soon discovers, upon speaking with the island’s inhabitants, that the Marines may have been massacred by a group of Lycanthropes, known to most as werewolves.

“Operation Blood Hunt is a unique blend of World War II drama and supernatural adventure, and inspired by Daemon Hillin’s ambitious idea, I embraced the challenge of shooting this film in Thailand,” said actor and director Louis Mandylor. “Leading a talented cast and crew is an honor, and their dedication is what brings my vision to life. I am proud of what we’ve created and excited to share it with the world.”
And now comes my official review of the trailer upon viewing and all I can say is that this movie looks sick with bloodshed, bullets, samurai swords and practical effect looking werewolves that literally run faster than Carl Lewis and the sequences with them in it look amazing. This just looks like a whole lot of fun and the reason why these types of movies are just flat out entertaining. I cannot wait to watch the entire product and if anyone related to the project reads this, I would love to chat with everyone involved. Operation Blood Hunt looks like a deliriously old school, blood soaked, limb severed throwback to the genre films of the 80’s and 90’s and Mandylor has taken his knowledge of performing onscreen action for decades and has translated it to a blossoming career in making ultra-violent and hyper-kinetic mayhem with jaw dropping action design and effects that sell the movie and should check all the boxes for genre fans looking for some solid werewolf battling, WWII action with a horror tinge to it. I have spoken.
