A few years ago, a little thing called the pandemic pretty much shut down Hollywood and the world thus delaying multiple film projects months and even years. From big name features like Top Gun Maverick to smaller indie fare like Castle Falls, nothing was safe from the dreaded delay.
Fast forward to summer 2023 and good news is that the world has pretty much returned to somewhat normal, as normal as it can ever be, but Hollywood is once again at a standstill as the Sag/Writers strike has dampened movie releases once again. With no end in site, here is an updated list of the movies that will no longer hit their original dates from Sony…Sigh…
First up, this is one I was looking forward to this fall but it has been revealed that the Spider-Man villain solo outing Kraven the Hunter has been delayed from its October 6, 2023 release date to almost a year later to August 30, 2024. That’s a whopping 10 months. The initial trailer looked nothing short of awesome with star Aaron Taylor-Johnson ripping apart bad guys with much bloodletting. Oh well.
Next up, Sony has pushed back the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse from March 29, 2024 and there unfortunately is no set release date announced as of this writing. Bad news all around.
Now we have the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel which was set to hit on Dec. 20, 2023 but will now fill the void left by Spider-Man and will now launch on March 29, 2024.
Are you keeping track? Now we have the video game adaptation Gran Turismo which was going to hit on August 11 will now come out a few weeks later on August 25th. I know big whoop with that one but I had to include it.
In some good news, Sony did announce new release dates for Bad Boys 4 and Venom 3.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return next summer on June 14th while Tom Hardy and his alien Venom counterpart will trounce the competition on July 12th, 2024. Of course, those can be subject to change as well and expect other movie studios to follow suit so LOCK N LOAD right here for future Intel updates!
