After serving up one of the best martial arts/action dramas in years with his directorial debut Life After Fighting, martial arts action phenom and filmmaker Bren Foster is back and he’s on bad guy duties in the latest MMA thriller Beast in Me. Boasting a sensational cast including Strike Back‘s Daniel MacPherson, Luke Hemsworth (Gunner, Land of Bad) and Academy Award winner Russell Crow, the film has received distribution ahead of a 2026 release to the delight of MMA fans looking for their next fix of Octagon brutality.
Deadline dropped the word that Beast in Me was acquired by Grindstone Entertainment which has put out a bevy of MMA titles throughout the years, and this one looks pretty solid with a strong cast and hard-hitting action design. Crowe also co-wrote the film as a matter of fact with David Frigerio so scroll below for plot details and images!
Beast in Me is a story about a former MMA legend turned family man who is lured back into the cage for a high-stakes rematch with the champion he once defeated. Now the underdog, he must wrestle with guilt, grief, and his violent past to win one last fight for his family and himself. For Crowe, it’s the second movie he’s co-written after the 2022 feature Poker Face which he also directed.

Tyler Atkins directed the film with Foster serving up the role of antagonist Xavier Grau who is the opponent of Patton James played by MacPherson who has been given a raw deal in life and must now shake of the rust and take on Grau who is now the champion but is looking for vengeance after Patton defeated him earlier.
Expect a trailer to hit soon and with Foster in the spotlight once again, fans of the genre can expect elite and pulsating MMA action that will ooze reality and pathos. Beast in Me was filmed in both Australia and Bangkok and One Championship which is an Asian based franchise collaborated in the making of the film.
During his promotional tour for Life After Fighting, Bren Foster was gracious enough to come on The Action Fix Podcast not once but twice and was the first guest on my Anatomy of Action Design. We broke down every fight sequence in the film including the 45-minute marathon of jaw dropping and insanely violent martial arts action.
