Predator: Badlands is officially rated PG-13. It still looks bad ass. It’s more than OK that a strong female lead is front and center alongside the young and unproven Dek and to thrive and succeed, there must be risks taken and hopefully this one works. Judging from what I’ve seen so far, I’m still firmly on the bandwagon and this newest international trailer that just hit today does nothing but reaffirm that my butt will be planted firmly in a theater seat come opening day. Check out the latest footage that just hit below!
Set in the future on a deadly remote planet, “Predator: Badlands” follows a young Predator outcast (played by newcomer Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) who finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Elle Fanning) as he embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. Produced by John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt and Brent O’Connor, “Predator: Badlands” opens exclusively in movie theaters on November 7 in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD (3D), Cinemark XD, 4DX, ScreenX and premium screens everywhere.

I firmly believe that fans and mainstream audience goers will still see some pretty bad ass and savage action with all the violence and gore that the franchise is best known for. The reason that they are getting away with a PG-13 rating is that all the kills will not be human and that many, many ferocious and ugly looking monsters will meet their gruesome demises during the film’s running time. Oh, and by the way, it does look like some unfortunate humans get eviscerated in severally harsh and unforgiving ways as well. This latest international teaser just confirms the bad assery that will be on display here including brutal and visceral action design and a fantastic scope of adventure not seen before in a Predator film. Making the hunter the hunted and the lead of the film was the perfect way to go for a series of films that have seen failure as of late.
Director and filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg understands the assignment, and it is clear that he is a fan of this IP and is seeking to deliver something different and rad at the same time. Predator: Killer of Killers was a blood pouring chef’s kiss for even the most diehard of fans so I feel we should all let Trachtenberg cook. This movie looks to take the Predator franchise in a completely new direction, and I don’t want to hear that we don’t see anything different these days because when we do, people still bitch.
20th Century Studios will be hosting a special early screening of Predator: Badlands on Wednesday, November 5th before the full-on release and is also pairing the new film with Prey, which never received a theatrical release, for special double feature screenings as well. Check your local cinemas and Fandango for more details on all of the planned events to celebrate the release.
