Proving once again that he is probably one of the most underrated action stars working today, Aaron Eckhart continues to pad his stats in the realm of action with a new film titled Butcher’s War from director Kyle Kauwika Harris (Out of Exile, The Huntsman, Reverence). Eckhart stars in the emotionally driven action pic as a former spec ops leader suffering from past traumatic events who ventures into enemy territory once again on a suicide mission. The film has been acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films for North America as well as Voltage Pictures who have claimed international rights. Scroll below for the first look reveal of Eckhart in action!
The official synopsis for Butcher’s War reads: “Haunted by the loss of his team, former special operations commander Jedediah “Jed” Butcher (Eckhart) has retreated to a solitary life. When he is recruited for a covert mission to rescue a besieged foreign leader from rebel militias, Butcher is drawn back into a world he thought he had escaped, only to uncover a conspiracy driven by powerful interests seeking control of the country’s natural resources.”
Eckhart stars along with Jason Behr (Roswell, The Grudge, Skinwalkers), Danielle Vasinova (1923, The Madison, The Leader) and Glenn Morshower (Transformers franchise, 24, The Little Things). Kyle Kauwika Harris directs from a script penned by Don Roff, Harris and Dawn Bursteen.
Butcher’s War is currently awaiting a release date and Voltage Pictures is bringing the movie to the Toronto Film Festival for potential international buyers. With Samuel Goldwyn Films acquiring the film for North American release, fans can expect a trailer and launch info soon.
Aron Eckhart has been crushing it for years now as a leading man of action and has poured out a steady stream of adrenaline laced flicks like The Bricklayer, Chief of Station, Classified and the Muzzle franchise. Eckhart most recently was seen in the intense shark thriller Deep Water. Eckhart always brings a gravitas laced and everyman persona to his performances and excels at the physical aspects of stunt work when the action hits onscreen and always dials it in when the bullets and fists start flying.
