For several years now, other genres like horror have been utilizing the found footage concept as a trope to deliver something off the beat and path of regular style films. The concept sees all the drama and action unfold through the lens of cameras that have captured the events of the film making it look more realistic and grittier. Viewers basically see past events unfold through camera footage decrypting what happened to the film’s characters. Examples of successful projects like this include the massively terrifying Paranormal Activity, Rec, Cloverfield and, of course, the original that started the trend back in 1999, The Blair Witch Project.
For whatever reason, most of the films delegated to the found footage concept has been relegated to horror and drama but that is all about to change as the plot trope is about to get a major shot of adrenaline as filmmaker James Cullen Bressack is readying his found footage revenge actioner The Workout for release later this month. Bressack has amassed quite the career as of late working with some of the most iconic action stars ever like Mel Gibson, Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Bruce Willis before he had to retire from movies.
The Workout stars Peter Jae (Call Me King, Black Hat) as Wyatt and Joshua Kelly (General Hospital, NCIS: Origins) as Levy who play former Army Rangers who dust off their lethal skills when the former’s pregnant wife is brutally murdered during the taping of an exercise video. During the assault, Wyatt is seriously injured, and the results have left him with traumatic brain injury which will ultimately make him lose his memory, cognitive skills and eventually his life. Before he succumbs to his injuries, Wyatt makes it his personal mission to take down those responsible and document it for his newly born daughter who survived through emergency C-section. Together with Levy, that execute a kill mission on organized crime piling up the bodies in their wake unleashing their fists, feet and a hail of bullets.
The film is set to hit on October 28th, and we have the trailer, stills and poster for you below!
The Workout follows Army Ranger Wyatt Park (Peter Jae) and his pregnant wife Becca
(Galadriel Stineman) during a workout video shoot in their private gym that is violently
interrupted by a mob hit. Becca is killed in the attack, but their unborn child is saved
through an emergency C-section. Overwhelmed by grief and rage, Wyatt teams up with
his brother-in-law Levi (Josh Kelly) to track down those responsible, documenting their
violent retaliation to ensure their daughter understands the cost of justice.

The Workout was helmed by Bressack from a script written by himself and David Lawrence. The film also stars Augie Duke (Mayans M.C., Yellowjackets), Galadriel Stineman (Murder, Anyone?), David Lawrence (Trauma Therapy, Darkness of Man), Ashlee Evens-Smith, Kristos Andrews (Survive the Game).

The Workout looks to take the found footage concept and put the pedal to the metal with pulse pounding, neck breaking CQB action and fierce firefights to please hardcore action fans. The movie also looks to spark some major drama and feelings of loss and revenge while enforcing that actions truly have consequences.
