I won’t dwell on the events that led Henry Cavill to step down from his now iconic role as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s hit adaptation of the blockbuster IP but I will say that it does suck a great deal. Needless to say, Liam Hemsworth has stepped into the role and while some will have issues letting go of Cavill’s performance just like Superman, I feel that Hemsworth will bring his own swagger and bravado to the character.
We now have our official first look as Netflix has dropped the anvil on the trailer for season 4 of The Witcher and while it does look somewhat unusual to see Hemsworth instead of Cavill, there’s no denying that this upcoming season still looks like a blood spraying solid time with Hemsworth going all in. The visuals, monsters and savage action design look to be at the top of the game and you can now scroll below and formulate your own opinion as I’m sure I’ll hear it. In the words of Geralt himself, “Let’s F@cking Move!!!!”
The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family — the story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified. Season 4 has the following synopsis: After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

If anything, aside from the visual feast in store for fans and viewers, Hemsworth is surrounded by a stellar and solid cast including returning series stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan, along with new additions Sharlto Copley, James Purefoy, Danny Woodburn, Linden Porco, Eve Ridley, and Clive Russell and the one and only Lawrence Fishburne. Stellar and solid indeed so I’m all in and I still have the third season to catch up on so no time like now to revisit the entire series to appropriately hype myself up.
This is just lavish, epic and bombastic fantasy action and drama in full effect and for someone like me who grew up on such sword and sorcery classics like The Beastmaster, Deathstalker and The Sword and the Sorcerer, this is as good as it gets. This is a show that one can immerse themself into and forget about all the crap in the real world and even though Cavill will be missed, I think I will still be drawn to it just fine. If anything, I’m a sucker for fierce and bloody sword action and choreography and this show has it in spades.
