I’ve been eagerly awaiting this one ever since it was first announced but Reacher star Alan Ritchson is finally to get bloody and brutal as his ambitious 70’s era set actioner Motor City is finally to make its world premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival or TIFF. Motor City is ambitious in the sense that there is only four lines of dialogue spoken throughout the entire film’s running time signaling that the action will definitely do all the talking with this one.
The film comes to us from director Potsy Ponciroli who is previously best known for helming Old Henry as well as well as co-scripting and directing the comedy Super Zeroes. Ponciroli also recently made the movie news being touted as the one who was hired to write the long in development Goonies sequel. Any way you slice it, this one looks to be hard driving and hard hitting with a new image of Ritchson looking bloody and battle while holding a shotgun in front of a vintage car and looking all sorts of pissed off which you can see below!

“Ritchson will play John Miller, a Detroit man released from prison, who unleashes a rampage of brutal vengeance on those who framed him. The Detroit-set film will be characterized by immersive visual storytelling, with stunningly choreographed and stylized action sequences.” Per TIFF
Motor City features a stacked cast as Ritchson stars along with Shailene Woodley, Ben Foster, and Pablo Schreiber. Chad St. John penned the script, all four lines of it.
The film looks to be Ritchson’s most visceral and unflinching role to date and with the star already establishing action star cred with his performances in Fast X, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and the aforementioned Reacher series, it will definitely be his most challenging role to date navigating a bleak, gritty and grimy 1970’s Detroit full of crime and unforgiving violence. We’ve seen this type of non-speaking, action driven film before with Johnn Woo’s Silent Night starring Joel Kinnaman being the most prolific one to hit in recent years.
