The reports of the infamous gun toting vigilante’s demise have severely been misleading as Frank Castle is alive and well and ready to dispense massive amounts of ammo on screen and in the comics. First of all, The Punisher isn’t just getting one new comic title coming up, the man’s getting two!! Hardcore fans have much cause for celebration as Mr. Castle is ready to dish out his signature brand of punishment in a special Red Band label five issue limited comic line as well as another title called Mavel Knights: The World to Come- The Punisher.
Frank is also set to return to not only the small screen but the big one too as Jon Bernthal is currently shooting the Disney+ one shot Punisher special on the streets of New York. Bernthal has been seen doing Punisher things online and now we have our first full look at his newest Punisher tactical suit courtesy of Photographer Steve Sands on Instagram and his Instagram Stories. Take a look at a fully jocked up Jon Bernthal below complete with iconic skull!

The suit reveal has been getting much conversation from fanboy nation online with some raving over it while, of course, others are not happy especially with the skull. I love it and I love that the skull is not only fashionable, but it is also tactical as it is a part of his vest. It’s also important to note that Bernthal’s caveman look, which was seen in earlier onset photos, is now cleaner and military looking. He still has a beard, but I think it suits this Punisher well.
There are also set various videos of filming and one such footage making the rounds involves Frank being involved in one gnarly beatdown complete with bat. Check out the brutal castle below!
Another video seems to take place before the altercation as Frank is simply strolling through the streets when mayhem ensues holding a cup of coffee. Frank doesn’t look too into what is transpiring but clearly that all changes.
The events of the Punisher one shot clearly take place after Frank escapes The Kingpin’s modified jail and navigates a New York City that has descended into chaos after the events of Daredevil: Born Again. The plot of the special presentation is top secret right now, but besides Bernthal, the cast includes Jason R. Moore returning as Frank’s military friend Curtis as well as Roe Rancell. There are also reports saying that a female actor has been cast in a crime boss roll which has fans saying that it could be the one and only Ma Gnucci who figured heavily in the “Welcome Back, Frank” storyline which was penned by Garth Ennis in 2000.
Bernthal’s Punisher is also ready for his massive close up on the big screen next July as he is also going to film scenes for Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Tom Hollands returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It has also been confirmed that MCU favorite Mark Ruffalo is also back as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Frank isn’t going to be as violent physically in the film as it is PG-13, but they are saying that his character isn’t any less violent. Fans have been complaining about this as well but if you know comics, then you know that Frank has used non-lethal tactics while teaming up with Spidey including rubber bullets and more traditional hand to hand combat so read a comic before you scream out things you don’t know.
