The tried-and-true trope of hunting victims for sport is as old, or even older, then the original The Most Dangerous Game but alas it is one that filmmakers often come back to. Sometimes, these films are throwaways but here is one that has an interesting premise as the human targets in this killer game are targeted by rabid dogs. That’s right! No gun wielding psychos here (or maybe just a few) but this time its man’s best friend gone seriously awry in the new thriller A Breed Apart. Check out the latest trailer and poster below!
When Violet accepts an invitation to a private island with some of the world’s most famous social influencers, she expects a weekend of unrivaled viral opportunity. She soon becomes part of her own horrific reality show when the guests are pitted against each other to capture the island’s legendary man-eating dogs before they become victims of the monstrous canines.

A Breed Apart is interesting as it is essentially a pseudo-sequel or reimagining to Wes Craven’s 2006 dog attack thriller The Breed. More of a sequel of sorts, this film even had the same name as its 2006 predecessor, but the title was eventually changed to give the new film a more solid foundation. I’m a sucker for this action film trope just like the countless Die Hard scenarios we have had throughout the years aso this one looks promising and nasty for all the right reasons.
The cast includes Hayden Panettiere (Scream 4 and Scream VI) along with Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner (who both also stared in Fall) and Page Kennedy, who shared the screen with Jason Statham taking on a prehistoric shark in both The Meg and its subsequent sequel Meg 2: The Trench. The brotherly directing duo of Nathan and Griff Furst helm the pic. The brothers have had their hands in directing several killer animal flicks in recent years including Trailer Park Shark, Ghost Shark, Swamp Shark, Lake Placid 3, Alligator Alley, and Arachnoquake. Now that’s a filmography if I do say so myself.
