Deemed an unofficial sequel to his 1993 western film Posse, Mario Van Peebles has returned to star, helm and write another chapter in the old west with Outlaw Posse. It’s again important to note that this one has no real connection to the earlier film but one could look at it as a follow up in the same universe. One thing is for certain and that is Van Peebles looks great and there is going to be copious amounts of six barrel action to go along with the high plains drama. “The Wild West of 1908, where men in power take advantage of an unfair world where corruption and greed run deep. Renegade cowboy Chief (Mario Van Peebles), eager to restore balance, assembles a daring group of outcasts and saddles up on a cross-country odyssey to reclaim stolen gold in unsettled territory. Pursued by the vengeful lawman Angel (Mapother), the posse is caught in a deadly game of survival and redemption, navigating the treacherous terrain of gunfights, showdowns, and horse chases. United by honor, they encounter allies such as Stagecoach Mary (Goldberg) that shape their destiny. As they venture closer to the hidden treasure, they soon learn survival is the only justice.”

One thing this western has in common with Van Peeble’s 1993 venture is that it has a stacked supporting cast including his son Mandela who happens to also play his son in the movie. The other note-worthy players include Whoopi Goldberg, Edward James Olmos, Cedric the Entertainer, William Mapother, John Carroll Lynch, Young Fly, Jake Manly, Amber Reign Smith. William McDonough, Neal McDonough, Allen Payne, Cam Gigandet and the great M. Emmet Walsh. Told you this was a stacked cast of players. I’m pretty sure a lot of them won’t make it out alive but it’s a western so all bets are off per usual.
Break out the horses and lock n load the six-barrel dispensers of justice because Mario Van Peebles is back in the saddle again. Keep an eye out for more Intel to follow!
