Sure Orlando Bloom will always be associated with the original Lord of the Rings trilogy having played Legolas, the Elf with a mean bow and arrow skill set. The actor has done much since but I think this latest one will rejuvenate the actor into a full fledged action star. Bloom is certainly looking to do something different and here he is virtually unrecognizable as a backwoods loner igniting a one man war to protect his family.
The new action thriller it called Red Right Hand and Bloom is all stoic and bad ass as Cash, a loner who only wants to be left alone and raise his niece Savannah (Chapel Oaks). He lives by three simple laws. God. Family. Survival. All which are going to be out to the ultimate test. Fate has other plans in the form of Big Cat (Andie MacDowell), who rules the small town where Cash lives with an iron fist and the two are about to incite a bloody war where only one will be left standing.
Set for a February 23rd release in select theaters and Digital, Red Right Hand’s new trailer is chock full of small town bravado mixed with a lot of ammo spent and fisticuffs aplenty that look fierce, brutal and satisfying. Check out the new footage below!
Official Synopsis:
Cash (Orlando Bloom) is trying to live an honest and quiet life taking care of his recently orphaned niece Savannah (Chapel Oaks) in the Appalachian town of Odim County. When the sadistic kingpin Big Cat, (Andie MacDowell) who runs the town, forces him back into her services, Cash learns he’s capable of anything – even killing – to protect the town and the only family he has left. As the journey gets harder, Cash is drawn into a nightmare that blurs the lines between good and evil.

I know there will be plenty out there who will raise their noses to Bloom playing a role like this but I do feel he looks credible in the scenes I’ve seen so far. I’ll certainly give it a watch as it looks to be loaded with excessive hard R rated action.
