Elaborating on an article I did in August of 2021 which you can read here, it’s being reported once again that Hollywood tough guys Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa are officially going to pair up for a new action comedy called The Wrecking Crew. The film is set to be helmed by Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto who saw his DCU movie hit number one this weekend. OK, it underperformed but it still knocked Barbie off even though that movie has been number one for weeks but a win is a win.
Plot details are currently being kept hush hush but the last post I did stated that the movie will most likely be a cop action flick is said to be in the same vein as the iconic Lethal Weapon films. Momoa also mentioned in 2021 that they are developing the film which will potentially take place in Hawaii. This is subject to change of course but that would be a stellar idea.
Momoa and Bautista teaming up for a buddy cop action film which will no doubt have a lot of humor and choice lines zinging between the two sounds like gold and I’m on board. The two are great friends in real life so the chemistry should be spot on.
Momoa and Bautista were last seen in two Sci-Fi related projects with the first being the Apple TV+’s See which debuted it’s second season in August 2021 and the pair also were in the blockbuster remake of Dune which hit Theaters and HBOMAX simultaneously in October of 2021.
The Wrecking Crew was penned by Jonathan Tropper (Warrior) for MGM Studios well ahead of the writers strike but only time will tell when this one will finally go in front of cameras.
