OK! Now we can talk about it! It’s official! It’s a go! He’s back baby! THR has just dropped the word that Jon Bernthal will indeed reprise his role as Frank Castle AKA The Punisher on the upcoming Disney + series Daredevil: Born Again!
Bernthal’s Gun toting vigilante will once again Star along with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the series, which will go in front of the cameras in New York this month. Unlike other Marvel Studio series that clock in around six to eight episodes per season, Born Again will break the bank with a massive 18 episode first run. Writers and executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord are responsible for the show, which is expected to hit the streaming service in the spring of 2024.
Now comes the question of wood not Castle will be watered down for this version. Cox has gone on record in saying that the show will be dark but the violence will be toned dish this time around.
Bernthal did say that he would only do the role again if they respected the character and did it right so we shall .
“I think if there’s any let up on that character, you do a disservice to the character, to every iteration of the character, to every comic book that’s come before, and to all of the unbelievable fans of the character,” said the actor. “This character means so much to people in the military. So like I said before, it’s not about whether you do the character; it’s about whether you can do it right, and I’m only interested in doing it right.”
Bernthal must like something about this to come back as he played the iconic Marvel character in two seasons on Netflix before that streamer cut ties with everything Marvel. It was a shame as Bernthal was ready to rock and roll by fully taking on The Punisher persona.
I Love everything Punisher so while I’m glad to finally hear the news, I am overly optimistically excited about it. Like I always say, only time will tell!
