A lot has been made in the fact that The Mandalorian and Grogu has been chosen to be the next Star Wars movie in about seven years. Add in the fact that the last film was The Rise of Skywalker and this is certainly an uphill battle and to pick a Disney+ series that started out strong and ended with a rousing whimper is definitely a huge, colossal gamble.
Well, with each trailer, this is starting to look like Jon Favreau understands the assignment still and when Mando goes on a hunting party, you can bet that it’s going to be bad ass. Fans should remember that the Mandalorian is one bad ass hombre and he cements that once again with this latest trailer. Oh yeah, Grogu is adorable so there’s that.
The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu also stars Sigourney Weaver and is produced by Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with music composed by Ludwig Göransson.

Jon Favreau returns to direct from a script penned by himself, new co-head of Lucasfilm Dave Filoni with George Lucas, of course, given Star Wars credit for creating the whole damn thing. Pedro Pascal, who pretty much is in everything as of late returns as Mando along with Hollywood icon Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’s Jeremy Allen White is also set to make a voiceover appearance as Rotta the Hutt who looks to put a bad ass name to The Hutts.
Initial Trailer reaction solidifies an epic vibe to the movie and The Mandalorian is in complete God Mode here as he annihilates Stormtroopers, aliens and essentially everyone is a chef’s kiss of light saber proportions. Will it reach the glorious heights of the original films? Hell no, but this will do and I’m all in.
