It’s been a long wait for American audiences to finally view the Japanese action import Re:Born from director Yuji Shimomura and starring martial arts poerhouse Tak Sakaguchi. Outside a few film festivals where the film has played, we have had a long wait to see the finished product. All that has xhanged as the movie is nowavailable to stream on the horror movie streaming site Shudder and the film is finally in the hands of North American fans.

Re:Born serves up some of the finest close quartes combat fight choreography ever seen which leads us to the newest installment of The Action Fix as I have chosen the brutal and unforgiving scene in the woods where Tak, who plays the role of Toshiro Kurada, unlashes his devastating and lethal skills on an elite unit sent to terminatehim with extreme prejudice. The action was handeled by combat expert Yoshitaka Inagawa and it features some of the most devastating and bloody empty handed and knife fighting combat ever captured on film with Tak in fine form for this one. He sets loose the beast within himself and the action is riveting and positively pulse pounding.

I viewed the film finally and thought that it was well worth the wait and even though the story was reminisent of the Korean action film The Man From Nowhere, I still felt that it was a notch above other action films in that same vein and the fight sequences was certainly worth the priceof admission alone. Look out for my full review coming soon.
In the meantime, if you have Shudder, I highly reccomend checking this one out and hopefully it will still get a proper Blu-Ray or DVD release here in the U.S.
