Today is July 6th and it is my wonderful wife’s birthday. Yes, she’s amazing in every way and she also happens to share this day with one Hollywood icon known as the one and only Sylvester Stallone. I can’t tell you how much I want to share a birthday with an action icon but alas it was not meant to be.
I’ve been busy today celebrating the occasion with my family but I thought I’d end the night with a tribute to Sly who has transcended from being a major star to being an icon. He’s done it all but it will always be his invaluable contribution to action cinema that he’ll best be known for. From such irreplaceable characters like Rocky and Rambo and yes, even Barney Ross, Stallone has taken on armies in his decades of movie entertainment and he’s still locked and loaded for more to come.

I figured I’d share the now classic finale to Rambo: Last Blood to help commemorate the day because even though many of you have your problems with this film, with some even saying it’s not a Rambo film, this is one hell of an entry in this blockbuster franchise. It’s Rambo in his twilight years who must dust off his particular set of skills when tragedy strikes his now serene life and he musters one last stand as he takes on a horde of ruthless cartel soldiers on his own piece of land.
It’s a brutal and barbaric sequence and it’s Rambo at his most savage as he cuts a blood soaked path through a gauntlet using every weapon at his disposal. From machine guns to pitch forks, Rambo dispatches the unsuspecting enemy and proves once again that when it comes to war…there’s nobody better.
Happy Birthday Sly and here’s to September 22nd when we get to see you suit up as Barney Ross one last time. Boom Lay…Boom Lay…BOOM!!!
