I’m on the other side of the hurricane that hit last week and am finally back at it with the website so what better first article to hit with than a new trailer for Ghost Soldier with Jim Caviezel. I was sold with the initial trailer that dropped around a few months ago but now we are less than a month away from release and this flick is shaping up to be a sleeper hit of epic proportions. Combining the ultra-hi-tech vibes of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier with the brooding gravitas of a seasoned thespian like Caviezel, this is shaping up to look like one hell of a bullet piercing, explosion laced thrill ride. In the action-thriller Ghost Soldier, Jim Caviezel stars as Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald, a solitary man with a mysterious past, living a quiet life off the grid in his hometown. But when a powerful foreign corporation descends on his community determined to seize his and his neighbors’ land for a massive payday, Fitz takes action — he’s actually a former Special Forces soldier and advanced weapons developer. Armed with weapons no one has ever seen, a lifetime of lethal military training, and an unwavering code of justice, Fitz becomes the one thing his enemies never anticipated: a one-man war they can’t win.
William Eubank directs from a script penned by Chris Papasadero. Oivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt and Shea Whigham round out the cast.
TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: A lot has been made of Ghost Soldier being rated PG-13 and to that I say educate yourselves if you think that this film can’t kick ass even if body parts and F bombs aren’t flying around during the running time. Caviezel looks like he might have a potential franchise on his hands with this one and the film looks like a rocking live action adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier with ferocious looking action set pieces. These types of films are always in my wheelhouse and with the next gen level weaponry infused with Caviezel’s kinetic leading man aesthetic make this one all jocked up to check all the boxes for hardcore action fanatics.
