Take your bets now as the match of the month is set to gear up with bloodthirsty and dizzying thrills with The Bluff. Starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and a delightfully vicious Karl Urban, Prime Video looks to reinvent the pirate film with a bold new interpretation of savage combat on the high seas. Scroll below for the anarchy and melee to come!
Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) thought she had escaped her violent past as a pirate, finding peace in the Cayman Islands with her loving husband T.H. (Ismael Cruz Cordova), their son Isaac (Vedanten Naidoo) and her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Safia Oakley-Green). But when her notorious former captain, Connor (Karl Urban), arrives seeking revenge, Ercell’s world is torn apart. Forced to confront the demons she’s tried to bury, Ercell is thrust back into a deadly game of secrets and survival. Armed with lethal swordsmanship, cunning traps, and a fierce will to protect those she loves, she wages a brutal war against Connor’s merciless crew. Ercell’s fight to save her family becomes a journey of redemption, as she reclaims her power and embraces the warrior she once was. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Cayman Brac’s Skull Cave and towering bluffs, producers Anthony and Joe Russo present The Bluff; a gritty, adrenaline-fueled action-adventure about family, survival, and the indomitable strength of a mother’s love.

Frank E. Flowers directs, and the supporting cast is no slouch also as Star Wars alum Temuera Morrison also features in the film as Quartermaster Lee. Ismael Cruz Córdova also stars as Ercell’s husband along with Safia Oakley-Green as her sister-in-law and Vedanten Naidoo as their son.
Cue all the woke talk because a tough female lead is evident once again with Chopra Jonas delivering one hell of a savage role with Bloody Mary. I’ll never understand why people bitch about women serving up action-oriented roles but I’m one that has welcomed it for decades. You know because there have always been strong, and defiant women in action cinema for years. Just saying. Anyone can be a bad ass, and I love that Urban is serving up villain duties here and he looks to welcome the role of Captain Connor with a wink and a nudge while killing multiple people in the process. The action looks savage, bloody and barbaric with a cinematic tinge that seems to be lost these days so I’m rooting to like this one.

The Bluff doesn’t seem like it will skimp on the adult-oriented action as it is being described as scary, bloody and brutal. Urban plays Captain Connor who is the merciless leader of the crew that Chopra Jonas’ Bloody Mary used to be a part of. Oh, and the two used to be lovers so Ercell marrying someone else and having a child doesn’t sit well with Connor who makes it his life mission to burn Ercell’s world to the ground.
The Bluff promises to satisfy fans with visceral and brutal swordfights, stunts and violent choreography immersed in a savage and forgotten time in history. It’s been a while since we saw a good pirate flick, so I say bring it on and especially with this cast.
