With a lot of the focus always spent on the male side of sports, especially MMA, it’s high time that the lethal ladies have their day in real life and on the screen. Hollywood megastar Halle Berry brought female centric MMA action/drama to the forefront in the Netflix sports pic Bruised and now we have a new contender for most ferocious on-screen action delivered by some of combat sport’s most dangerous women in the new combat sport drama EFC. Jaze Bordeaux helms the upcoming fight fest that not only tackles the action and drama into the Octagon but also off of it as well showcasing a story that is essentially ripped from the headlines.
Interestingly enough, EFC takes a page from one of the most infamous moments in UFC history when MMA bad boy Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov were involved in a fight that erupted after the scheduled card. EFC looks to tackle the subject, and gender swaps it letting the ladies have the spotlight which I’m all for. The film has a gritty and raw texture to it and the action design looks to compliment real MMA techniques for authentic onscreen action to honor and respect the sport that many would die for.

In the adrenaline-fueled EFC, the world of women’s mixed martial arts is rocked by an explosive showdown between reigning champion Cassady Jones and rising star Alexa Star.
The clash of these two titans sends shock waves through the EFC, as the future of the sport hangs in the balance.
This movie is inspired by one of the most iconic and controversial moments in the history of mixed martial arts – the infamous post-fight brawl that erupted between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor at UFC 229.

“EFC is a cinematic tour-de-force on the complexity and beauty of the human experience, exploring the age-old struggle between the self and the world around us. The film delves into the darkest corners of the mind, while also shining a light on the hope and resilience that lies within each of us. Through the intricate, character-driven storyline, the audience is invited to examine their own internal battles and discover the power within to overcome them.” – Jaze Bordeaux, Director

From directors Jaze Bordeaux and Wayne Wells, and written by Ilham Aragrag, Jaze Bordeaux, and Greg Jackson, EFC stars Karlee Rose, Kathryn Aboya, Avaah Blackwell, and Alex Cruz, and releases on digital formats August 20 from Breaking Glass Pictures

“Breaking Glass Pictures is thrilled to announce the release of EFC, a compelling and empowering film centered around women’s mixed martial arts. This project holds a special place in our hearts, as it was written and directed by our longtime friend and collaborator, Jaze Bordeaux. We couldn’t be prouder to bring Jaze’s unique vision to audiences, and we are confident that EFC will resonate deeply with viewers everywhere,” said Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass Pictures.
