This past weekened was a virtual whirlwind for Netflix and fans around the world as the streaming giant teased us with news, trailer and exclusives to all of their upcoming projects including movies and TV series. There was new 411 on Extraction 2 with Chris Hemsworth, Red Notice, The Witcher, Cowboy Bebop, Army of Thieves, Cobra Kai and more to wet our appetites for the new year.
With all the details coming out of the site’s TUDUM global fan event, one littel piece of news snuck in under the radar. It appears that filmmkaer Timo Tjahjanto, who is best known for such action hits as Headshot and Netflix’s own The Night Comes for Us, has signed a new deal to make another film for the service which will be titled The Big Four. The project’s synopsis along with any casting decisions are being tight lipped for now so we will have to wait to find out more on the film.

“I’m honored for the opportunity to tell this particular story to the world. With my previous experience of working with Netflix that allowed international exposure, I’m very excited for this new project.” Timo Tjahjanto said in an official statement.
Tjahjanto’s last outing for Netflix was the aforementioned The Night Comes for Us which starred a host of Indonesian action talent including Joe Taslim, Iko Uwais, Julie Estelle and Zack Lee. That movie told the story of an “elite Triad assassin that is targeted by an onslaught of murderous gangsters after sparing a girl’s life during a massacre.”
Taslim was in top form and the film contained numerous bloody and brutal action set pieces with horror level violence that gave it a definite throwback feel to the types of action movies they made back in the day.
Since 2016, Netflix has been working with the Indonesian film community and will continue to do so in the future. I’ve stated many times in the past that Netflix is the source of countless choices in foreign action and it looks like they’re not slowing down anytime soon.
Tjahjanto is also doing an English remake of the Korean cult classic zombie-thriller Train to Busan so his plate is full for the forseeable future.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come with the Big Four as we are your destination for everything action! In the meantime, check out a high-octane clip from director Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes for Us to properly psych yourself up for the new film.
