More news coming out of yesterday’s Netflix TUDUM global event as I get caught up is that a new, action drenched trailer has dropped for the Army of the Dead prequel Army of Thieves. The film which brings back Matthias Schweighöfer as Dieter, who also helmed, is being scored by none other than Hans Zimmer! Check out the newest footage in the latest trailer!
Zimmer notably decided to score the film seeing that both he and Schweighöfer are both Germans and the announcement took Matthias by surprise and he stated to cry afterwards. Zimmer is best known for scoring the DCEU films as well as the upcoming Dune remake.
Army of Thieves is due to hit Netflix on October 29th which is just in time for Halloween, although this prequel is a straight up heist movie as opposed to a zombie gore fest like the original.
It will be interesting to see how Schweighöfer fairs with directing as well as acting. He was solid in the first film and was definitely one of the bright spots in the cast.
I’m also eagerly awaiting the prequel Anime show Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas which will delve deeper into Dave Bautista’s character Scott Ward and his team of mercs. The series will focus on Ward and his comrades dealing with the initial zombie outbreak as they try to protect the ones they love. One definite draw is that the original cast is set to do the voices for the animated entry. Zack Snyder is coming-helming with Jay Oliva for this one.
Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas will contain six episodes and hit Netflix sometime in 2022.
Stay tuned and keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come as we are your destination for everything action!
