C.O.R.A.- BLACK Director Frank T. Ziede’s Ambitious Sci-Fi Action Concept Film is Off and Running with a Kickstarter Campaign!

Director Frank T. Zeide, who helmed the awesome spec ops military action web series BLACK starring Mikal Vega is back and he’s got his sights set on a new and ambitious sci-fi action proof of concept short film titled C.O.R.A which sounds all kinds of bad ass. To sweeten the project, he has assembled a top tier team of actors for the film which tells the tale of a female super soldier who becomes self aware of who she is and goes on the run while battling the very people who created her.

The project is now off and running with a Kickstarter campaign that went live as of yesterday to help fund the film and as always, there are plenty of awesome perks for those who contribute to the cause. To help get things rolling, Ziede has produced two videos to generate excitement for the project.

The cast includes John T. Woods (DEAD BULLET, VHS, 24, NCIS, HOUSE, 24), Terri Hayes (NAACP Award Winner) and Fabrice Calmels (JOFFREY BALLET, EMPIRE, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE). The super soldier herself will be played by Caitlin Ewald (CAPTIVE STATE).

The cast of C.O.R.A. L to R: Ewald, Woods, Hayes and Calmels

Per the Kickstarter Page: “C.O.R.A. is the story of a female super soldier developed by the team at D.A.R.P.A., which stands for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, a part of the U.S. Government focusing on futuristic research in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence and combat. In our film, we learn of the C.O.R.A. program, which stands for Combat Ordnance Research Aggregate. This program focuses on utilizing CRiSPR, a newly developed genetic modification program in conjunction with Nanorobotics which are microscopic robots designed to modify the human body at a quantum level.”

C.O.R.A. is a seriously lethal combat killing machine who is installed with nanotechnology to make her the perfect military weapon. Unfortunately for her handlers, she becomes self aware and questions who she is and what she has done do she escapes and goes on the run while the government agency who created her will do whatever it takes to get their property back. Check out the 60 second pitch video with Ziede below.

For the new project, Ziede has reunited with producer Corey Gilbert who worked with Ziede on BLACK and he promises that the film will “take its cues from many great films which deal with similar subject matter. We’ll echo the science of ANNIHILATION, the knife combat of THE HUNTED, the A.I. paradox of MORGAN and the gritty and tough feel of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. We’ll be showcasing great military style combat and action by having a real life Recon Marine on set for technical accuracy and working with some of the premier fight choreographers in the entire Midwest!”

This all sounds like one kick ass film and judging from BLACK, which is available on Amazon Prime, Ziede is a master craftsman when it comes to all out military action extravaganzas.

The campaign is now live like I said and has 29 more days to reach its goal so check out the official site below and watch the extended pitch video below with Ziede and Gilbert hyping up the film!

I also reviewed BLACK a while back on my older site and will be reprinting it shortly for the new site so keep your eyes peeled for that.
