I’ll admit it, I liked the first Mortal Kombat when it hit a few years back. there were massive issues with it like not actually having a tournament in the damn flick, but it still delivered a lot of carnage and bombastically violent martial arts action. Lewis Tan was convincing everyone that he should be a bigger star and even with the omission of fan favorite Johnny Cage, it still did its job albeit worts and all.
Now Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have unleashed the second full trailer for Mortal Kombat II and we do not have long to wait now as the film will hit theaters in a few months to kick off summer. Was it the right move to delay it from last October? we shall see but at least the footage keeps getting better and they once again showcase Karl Urban who looks flawless in the role of Johnny Cage. Get over here and check out the new trailer because the fate of the world depends on it!
From New Line Cinema comes the latest high-stakes installment in the blockbuster video game franchise in all its brutal glory, Mortal Kombat II. This time, the fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.
Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage, alongside Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, with Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.

Director Simon McQuoid returns to helm the follow up to his explosive 2021cinematic adventure, from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, based on the videogame created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The film is produced by Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, James Wan, Toby Emmerich and Simon McQuoid, and executive produced by Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Jeremy Slater, Ed Boon and Lawrence Kasanoff.
Joining McQuoid behind the camera are director of photography Stephen F. Windon, production designer Yohei Taneda, editor Stuart Levy and costume designer Cappi Ireland, with casting by Rich Delia and music by Benjamin Wallfisch.
I will admit that I favor old school, practical action design that isn’t besieged by CGI but for a movie like this, I will make an exception. Let’s just hope that the effects don’t overpower the actors and the action onscreen. With this latest trailer, we do see some fleeting glimpses of hardcore martial combat and Urban is front and center as most of the returning cast get out of his way. Hopefully, the cast all get their moments because I did enjoy the performances from the original.
