You know what to do? Walk outside, clear your throat and scream “This is Sparta!” at the top of your lungs. Unfortunately, all you’ll get is weird looks from your neighbors but hey…maybe one person will get it. Anyway, why do I start the article off like that? Well, you read the title to it so why is it a mystery? Before Zack Snyder became the much-maligned filmmaker he is today, the iconic and visionary director helmed a little movie called 300 which starred a young Gerad Butler as King Leonidis who would lead his army of 300 Spartan warriors against a massive Persian army. The outcome was a film that was hailed as a visual triumph with some of the most creative and original action set pieces ever captured on film. The CGI was amazing and even though, I cringe most of the time when it’s used, this was an example of it being done right.
Deadline is bringing word that Warner Bros. is looking to dust off their hit movie in favor of making a series based off of it. There are no plot details as this project is in the very, very early stages but they are saying that it would serve as a prequel to the 2006 movie which spawned a sequel of its own.

The big news is that Warner Bros. (yes, the same company that dissed Snyder with Justice League) is negotiating with the filmmaker to direct and executive produce the series with Deborah Snyder, who executive produced 300, is being eyed at to return as well as an executive producer once again. They would both ex. produce under their Stone Quarry production banner along with Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann who all produced the first movie.
The movie 300 was, of course, based off Frank Miller’s graphic novel of the same name which he did with Lynn Varley. The story takes massive liberties with real life events where hundreds of Spartan soldiers waged a suicide battle with King Xerxes and his legion army of warriors. The story is of legends and the movie was a solid entry in the genre of sword clanging action epics. Aside from Butler, the movie also starred a stacked cast including Lena Headey, David Wenham, Dominic West, Vincent Regan, Tom Wisdom, and Michael Fassbender.
