Production is essentially a wrap on the upcoming actioner Lights Out starring Frank Grillo and Scott Adkins as it heads into the virtual EMF. The Exchange is putting the anticipated throwback style flick up for international sales and we have some additional casting news to share with you as we eagerly await this one.
According to THR, on the heels of JuJu Chan Szeto joining the cast, it is now being reported that Justin Furstenfeld, Amaury Nolasco and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone have enlisted for the film from director Christian Sesma.
Furstenfeld is the frontman for the group Blue October while Cerrone is a UFC fighter. Nolasco is no stranger to action having starred in the hit TV series Prison Break as well as most recently Jarhead: Law of Return. Chan Szeto was announced yesterday so this cast is really shaping up to surround both Adkins and Grillo.

Lights Out sees “a drifting ex-soldier (Grillo) who turns underground fighter with the help of a just released ex-con, pitting him against corrupt cops and hired killers now gunning for him and all those he cares about.”

Lights Out, from director Christian Sesma (Every Last One of Them, Paydirt), is being described as a cross between Roadhouse and Kickboxer and deals with a gritty and seedy underbelly of Los Angeles where Grillo’s character gets mixed up in illegal underground fighting. Adkins co-stars as an ally who helps him in his war on the criminal element behind it all.
Grillo and Adkins will star along with Mekhi Phifer (Truth Be Told) and Dermot Mulroney (Section Eight, Hanna). The film is currently in the midst of production so unfortunately, we have a little bit of a wait for this one to reach the finish line but it’s on the tippy top of my must see radar now.
Lights Out was penned by the one and only Chad Law (Daylight’s End, Section Eight) along with Garry Charles (Welcome To Acapulco).
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more info on Lights Out to follow as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
