Get Ready for a Wild Showdown as New Key Art Debuts for Nic Cage’s PRISONERS OF THE GHOSTLAND!

By: John M Jerva

Last week saw the release of the first footage from what is being hailed as Nicolas Cage’s wildest film yet as fans were treated to the trailer for Prisoners of the Ghostland. Also starring cult genre favorite Tak Sakaguchi, we now have some equally tasty and awesome key art and new images which you can view below!

Prisoners of the Ghostland is set in the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town where a ruthless bank robber (Cage) is sprung from jail by wealthy warlord The Governor (Moseley), whose adopted granddaughter Bernice (The Mummy’s Sofia Boutella) has gone missing. The Governor offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway. Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within three days, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman—and his own path to redemption.

Sofia Boutella (The Mummy), Nick Cassavetes (Face/Off), Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Franchise), and Yuzuka Nakaya (The Forest of Love). The biggest thrill for me in this one is that Japanese bad ass Tak Sakaguchi also has a part in it and here’s hoping that he is utelized to his fullest. Tak is best known for the cult classic Versus as well as Re:Born and the ambitious one take samurai flick Crazy Samurai: 400 VS 1.

This movie marks the English language debut of Sion Sono‘s (Why Don’t You Play in Hell) and it’s been hailed as Cage’s wildest ride yet.

To satisfy you until the film’s release, check out our man Anthony Francis’ take on the film where he called it “an explosion of genres and styles that is entertaining and inventive.” Read his full review here!

I all know that we are talking about Donnie Yen’s Raging Fire right now but if this doesn’t become my favorite film of the year just by the trailer alone, I don’t know what will. Ninjas, Samurai. Explosions, gunfire, fisticuffs, sword fights, Tak, Nic Cage! You name it, it’s in here.

RLJE Films is ready to unleash Prisoners of the Ghostland in theaters and on VOD as well as digital on September 17th so mark your calendars accordingly!
