SNAKE EYES GI JOE ORIGINS Set to Hit Digital Starting Tomorrow! 4K & Blu-Ray Launches October

By: John M Jerva

The newest entry in the GI Joe universe was set to hit Blu-Ray and Digital this fall but with a lackluster performance at the box office, Paramount Pictures is releasing the film ahead of schedule on Digital Platforms starting tomorrow.

The movie which stars Henry Golding and Andrew Koji, was supposed to jumpstart a new series of Joe movies but the lukewarm reception at the box office and even more negative reception with critics and fans has pretty much squashed all hopes of seeing Golding suit up as the black clad ninja commando. The film has only grossed $27.5 million domestically and even worse $7.7 million overseas but it still yet has to open in several key markets like Japan.

Of course, movies are still suffering from the effects of COVID which is keeping many filmgoers away but it appears that Paramount has risen the white flag by dumping it on Digital starting tomorrow.

I, for one, did enjoy it although it was definitely hurt by the fact that Golding never fully suits up until the last shot of the movie. Eoin Friel and myself recently chatted about it on The Action Elite War Room Live which you can view below for our take on the newest GI Joe entry.

Snake Eyes is also set to launch on 4K, Blu-Ray and DVD on October 19th and is up for Pre-Order at Amazon now. There is also a special steel book collection that will be available which will include G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.

The physical media of the movie is loaded with some rad special features including:

Morning Light: A Weapon with Stories to Tell: Discover the secrets of Snake Eyes‘ legendary sword, Morning Light, in this all-new short film.

Deleted Scenes: what you didn’t see in theaters.

Enter Snake Eyes – find out what it took to bring the iconic hero’s origin story to life.

A Deadly Ensemble: meet fan-favorite heroes, villains, and new characters in the G.I. Joe franchise.

Arashikage: dive into the elite ninja warrior world of the Arashikage clan.
